ATU Donegal

The Industrial Liaison office is involved with the establishment, promotion and delivery of a range of services to industrial, commercial, and other organisations. It aims to support the maintenance and development of enterprises and employment, and the commercial use of the Institute’s resources. The office is also involved in the promotion and co-ordination of research and development, technology transfer and other institute-industry liaisons. Central to this external engagement and a key role of the Office, is supporting all Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange activities between industry and enterprise partners and ATU Donegal in association with our partners within the Ignite West Consortium.

These activities incorporate:

  • Managing ATU Donegal's Intellectual Property (IP) Policy.
  • Promoting IP training across LYIT.
  • Proactively engaging with Industry and Enterprise partners.
  • Supporting the commercialisation of LYIT’s Staff, Students and Researchers Research and Innovation outputs.

ATU Donegal is acutely aware of its responsibility to contribute to regional and national economic prosperity and employment creation. We continue to deliver on this important strategic priority by leveraging Higher Education in association with other stakeholders including Industry/Enterprise, Government and Community partners to deliver positive results across the key associated domains of research, innovation and enterprise.

We have a growing community of research active staff, post graduate students and funded researchers who are all directly engaged with industry/enterprise partners in their research and innovation activities.

We have a strong track record of delivering positive research and innovation impacts for industry/enterprise partners using Enterprise Ireland’s Programmes including Innovation Vouchers, Innovation Partnerships, Technology Gateways, Applied Research Enhancement Centres and Commercialisation Funds.

We also support InterTrade Ireland’s Fusion Programme supporting cross border linkages between LYIT and Northern Ireland industry/enterprise partners as well as Interreg and other EU funded programmes.
